The programme of events for the seventh annual SiarScéal Festival has just been announced. The festival celebrates the culture and heritage of Roscommon, recognising in particular its unique landscape dominated by the river basins and lakes of the Suck and the Shannon. The festival has gone from strength to strength since its inception.
At the same time, submissions are also being accepted for the Hanna Greally Literary Awards, which take place every year in conjunction with the Festival. The Ger Hanily Memorial Cup will be awarded for the poem with the best sense of 'Pride of Place'. Previous entries to this competition were published last year in a volume entitled Roscommon in Reflection, which is available to buy online from The Manuscript Publisher (price €12.95 plus P&P).
The festival will form part of a nationwide programme of events to celebrate The Gathering:
A brochure containing the full programme of events, including guidelines for entries to the Hanna Greally Awards is available to download here. The festival runs from March 7th - 9th and the main venue will be Roscommon County Library, Abbey Street, Roscommon Town.
