News | In Memoriam | Rex (Richard) Lee, 1939-2025 | Author, Activist, all-round Human Being
– author, activist, all-round, living human-being –
On this day, we honour and respect the life and work or Richard (aka Rex to all of his many friends, not to mention family) Lee, who was born 'into this world' on 23 May in 1939.
"It was a difficult birth," as he said later, "and the prognosis for it was not good, for I had cerebral palsy, otherwise known as 'an accident of birth'."
The world that Rex Lee was born into, and what he made of that world, has been the subject of his writings and indeed his life's work, not least of which is outlined in his autobiography, titled Memories at Eventide, published in Ireland, in 2013, under the imprint of The Manuscript Publisher.
Rex's many achievements, just as details of his life and legacy, are impossible to enumerate in this short post. We will do our best, however, in posts that are surely to follow.
Rex was active up until the end of his life, which took place on 9 January, 2025, in causes that he was passionate about, which included life itself.
