A romantic comedy told in the style of a modern day fairy tale. It is a story that appeals to young and old alike, especially anyone who is young at heart.
Now in its second printing, it has also been selling well in e-book format on Amazon's Kindle platform since February of this year. This was at a special introductory price of US$0.99 which, like all things introductory, must shortly expire. From Monday, 21st May the new price will be €3.99 or local currency equivalent.
Which means you only have one more week to purchase the Kindle edition of Charles, the Maiden and the Ogre on Amazon at the bargain price. Thereafter it is a case of 'out with the old and in with the new'. Fans of this charming, quirky tale will attest, that writing of this quality cannot simply be given away, indefinitely.
In a bid to ease the transition, a free promotion is being organised this forthcoming weekend of 19th and 20th May. This means that you can download Charles, the Maiden and the Ogre for FREE this Saturday and Sunday! Watch Amazon for more details.
The printed edition is also available to buy online and in most good bookshops. RRP €7.99 plus P&P.
This is the title of the 2012 SiarScéal Anthology which was launched back in March, at the festival that bears the same name. It represents a selection of the best submissions over five years, to the annual Hanna Greally Literary Awards that takes place in conjunction with the festival.
This anthology includes poetry and prose inspired by the culture and heritage of Roscommon. The landscape of the county also features prominently; a place noted for its majestic rivers and lakes that include the Suck and the Shannon.
The anthology has been a great success and has all but sold out. However a few copies are still available to buy online. And it has now been published on Amazon for those who want to buy it in Kindle format.
The e-book edition is priced at €5.99 (or local currency equivalent) but over the June bank holiday weekend (from May 31st to June 1st) visitors to Amazon will be able to download it for free, for five days only.
So don't forget to add these dates to your diary:
19-20 May: Free promotion of Charles, the Maiden and the Ogre by Sorcha Duggan
31 May - 1 June: Free promotion of Roscommon in Reflection, SiarScéal Anthology 2012
Did you know?
You don't need a Kindle to purchase and read Kindle books. Amazon provide a variety of free reading apps that allow you to read over 1 million titles that are now available in Kindle books. You can download Kindle to your phone, iPad, laptop or PC for free. No special software is required. Useful to know when you consider that prices for Kindles start at US$79 (Stg£89) on Amazon.
Note about Kindle Promotions
Kindle e-books are given away for free on Amazon all the time - there is no catch. For the authors and writers, who for the most part are independent publishers, it is a means of getting their books out there and noticed by the general reading public. Feel free to download to your heart's content. If you would like to give something back, one way you can do so is by Leaving a Review on Amazon. There is no obligation in this either. You are free to say whatever you like about the books you have read - even to say that you didn't like. Your honest opinion helps authors and other readers alike.
