SiarScéal celebrates the history, culture and mythology of the people and environs, from the Suck to the Shannon, through the media of all art forms, with themed productions and exhibitions.
A community-based project, an annual SiarScéal Festival has been held every year since 2007. SiarScéal also organises the Hanna Greally Literary Awards, which take place annually in conjunction with the festival.
